A Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing gives the debtor the opportunity to restructure debt under the supervision of the bankruptcy court and stop mortgage foreclosure. In a Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing, the debtor provides creditors with a proposed repayment plan, detailing how the debtor intends to pay off his or her obligations.
